Reporting to the Director of Commercial Training, the Associate Director of Commercial Training is responsible for developing initial and advanced training programs and delivering sales materials to the customer facing roles. This will include skills and competencies to support our product strategies, product/competitive product knowledge, compliance (OIG), and other commercial effectiveness processes and systems. In addition, this position will also be responsible for working with medical affairs to support disease state and product-specific materials, and with marketing to develop and facilitate Plan of Action (POA) meetings and product launches. The incumbent will need to collaborate across Marketing, Sales, Managed-Care, Legal, HR, Regulatory, Medical and Operations in support of a high performance organization. This position is remote based with travel ~25% as required


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop training for US commercial teams to ensure consistency in launch readiness including selling skills and competencies, computer literacy taking into account post-Covid commercial selling models, product and non- product training modules for the portfolio.
  • Develop and lead training for sales meetings such as POAs, in person and online etc
  • Lead and coordinate new hire orientation and training programs related to commercial and marketing training as well as skills development.
  • Support ongoing training efforts such as journal clubs, newsletters,
  • Develop organizational capability assessments of commercial efforts and design training and development programs to address gaps and needs and identify critical approaches by high performers and share with rest of team to raise all competencies.
  • Maintain all current training assets and resources to ensure they meet compliance standards
  • Lead the effort in commercial meeting planning and execution, including site and production vendor selection, agenda creation, workshop development, and event facilitation.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage vendors to support training with director of training
  • Establish goals and learning objectives to design appropriate and effective curriculum, leveraging principles of adult leaning, and incorporate required regulatory and legal compliance requirements
  • Document and maintain proper records of training initiatives
  • Lead in the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) process to expedite the delivery of material to field
  • Create and actively manage a commercial calendar to ensure proper planning and timing of key events throughout the year
  • Be field based and ready to act where business and/or customers needs require additional

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience 10+ years, adult education background and strong technology skills for training and customer engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work and collaborate across functions and cultures highly preferred.
  • Experience in training and/or operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience in rare disease sales is a plus
  • Experience in dermatology and /or endocrinology is preferable
  • Previous launch experience in rare disease in a sales or training role
  • Demonstrated success in managing numerous projects simultaneously
  • Thorough understanding of specialty pharmacy and orphan drug payor coverage challenges
  • Prior experience with buy and bill injectable and infusion specialty products
  • Ability to challenge the thinking of an experienced sales team
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills required
  • Requires 25% travel (more at times of launch, business needs etc.)
